🎾 Forehand Basics (For Beginners)
1. Grip
- Start with the Eastern grip (imagine shaking hands with the racket).
- This grip is simple, natural, and easy to learn.
- Make sure you hold the racket loosely—not too tight!
2. Stance
- Stand sideways to the net (shoulders pointing to the net).
- Feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent.
- If the ball comes to your right (if you’re right-handed), step forward with your left foot.
3. Swing Path
- Take the racket back early, pointing behind you.
- Swing low to high to get topspin.
- Contact the ball in front of your body, waist-high.
- Follow through over your shoulder like you’re scratching your back.
4. Footwork
- Move to the ball quickly.
- Always return to the ready position after your shot.
- Small steps help you adjust your position before hitting.
5. Focus
- Keep your eye on the ball.
- Hit with control first, power comes later.
- Aim for depth and consistency over trying to hit hard.
🔁 Practice Drill
- Stand near the service line.
- Partner or wall tosses or hits slow balls to your forehand.
- Focus on clean contact and finishing your swing.
